The second chapter in this greatest hits saga, Volume II brings you another glossy selection of the finest Hanging Dong material, this time handpicked by yours truly from the most recent round of LPs and EPs, including the behemoth Beatles album. This compilation looks to bring balance by including songs from each Dong release that was eligible this time around, meaning it was very difficult to only select a handful of Beatles covers out of 50! The number of plays, general popularity and my own personal fancy helped decide the 20 tracks lucky enough to make the cut.

So sit back, relax, drug yourself up with your narcotic of choice, and weep before the majesty of Hanging Dong at its very best (again).

Q: What the bloody hell is Hanging Dong?
A: Hanging Dong is a fluid, ever-changing collaborative project operating on 4chan's music board. Each album is made by a random group of anonymous posters, although there are a handful of loyal regulars who maintain a presence from album to album.

Q: How are the albums made, exactly?
A: Threads are created and people roll for naming suggestions (hence the often absurd and nonsensical song and album titles). The name Hanging Dong was in fact decided by a winning roll, and it just happened to stick. Once songs are named, each one is claimed anonymously and then sent into the Dong master upon completion, to be compiled into the final product. Some Hanging Dong albums have a structure, like a binding concept or theme, but usually it's very loosely organised and done on spontaneity.

Q: Where do I begin with the discography?
A: Death By Memes is the essential Dong record. Most albums are heavily experimental and something of an acquired taste, but there is also a Best Of compilation to filter out the crap.

Q: What do I do if I want to contribute to a future album?

A: Moderately so, given that the majority of what you'll hear on this Bandcamp page is self-indulgent, meme-fuelled, pretentious, concentrated autism shite. We recently hit 100,000 plays on this site, so many thanks go to our lovely contributors. The Beatles project was reviewed by Anthony Fantano over on TheNeedleDrop, and he has acknowledged Death By Memes a couple of times. And he's, uh, the biggest music critic in the world these days, I guess?

For one thing, there is no bank account linked to the project in the first place and so the money wouldn't actually go to anyone. Not to mention, it would be impossible to split the earnings between the contributors even if there was one. Hanging Dong music will always be free, so don't waste your money. Some gobshite did in the past, which is why I need to even say all this (who would even want to pay for musical shitposts?).
