Q: What the bloody hell is Hanging Dong?
A: Hanging Dong is a fluid, ever-changing collaborative project operating on 4chan's music board. Each album is made by a random group of anonymous posters, although there are a handful of loyal regulars who maintain a presence from album to album.

Q: How are the albums made, exactly?
A: Threads are created and people roll for naming suggestions (hence the often absurd and nonsensical song and album titles). The name Hanging Dong was in fact decided by a winning roll, and it just happened to stick. Once songs are named, each one is claimed anonymously and then sent into the Dong master upon completion, to be compiled into the final product. Some Hanging Dong albums have a structure, like a binding concept or theme, but usually it's very loosely organised and done on spontaneity.

Q: Where do I begin with the discography?
A: Death By Memes is the essential Dong record. Most albums are heavily experimental and something of an acquired taste, but there is also a Best Of compilation to filter out the crap.

Q: What do I do if I want to contribute to a future album?

A: Moderately so, given that the majority of what you'll hear on this Bandcamp page is self-indulgent, meme-fuelled, pretentious, concentrated autism shite. We recently hit 100,000 plays on this site, so many thanks go to our lovely contributors. The Beatles project was reviewed by Anthony Fantano over on TheNeedleDrop, and he has acknowledged Death By Memes a couple of times. For one thing, there is no bank account linked to the project in the first place and so the money wouldn't actually go to anyone. Not to mention, it would be impossible to split the earnings between the contributors even if there was one. Hanging Dong music will always be free, so don't waste your money.
